Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) is the Statutory Body to implement Central GST & Customs in the country. It is part of the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
NACIN (National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes & Narcotics), is the training wing of CBIC, mandated to train its officers. The core functions of NACIN are capacity building activities in field of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics, including Induction training; Specialized and periodic trainings to in-service officers; Trainings to State/UT and other stakeholders in the area of indirect taxation; Management and soft skills training for overall professional and personal development of officers; International cooperation and training activities in Customs, Narcotics and other allied areas.
NACIN, Visakhapatnam campus, started functioning from 01.07.2017. Its mandate is to train officers of CGST and Customs, in the state of Andhra Pradesh, covering CGST Commissionerate’s of Visakhapatnam (North AP), Guntur (Central AP) & Tirupati (Southern AP); Custom House, Visakhapatnam; Guntur Audit Commissionerate; Guntur Appeals Commissionerate and Customs Preventive Commissionerate, Vijayawada.
The Training Institute is headed by Additional Director General. The Visakhapatnam campus is currently housed near Akkayyapalem junction. The premises are about 12,000 Sq. ft. with well-equipped Training Halls with digital display and camera facility to deliver hybrid ‘physital’ training and an Integrated Computer Lab, Seminar/Workshop chambers; Library, dining room and a recreation Room. Aside from internal Faculty, the resources are drawn from Department and experts from outside.
Field Attachments are conducted in co-operation with Police Training College, Vizianagaram, field offices in Vizag etc.
