21^st January, 2026

Shri Rajesh Jindal, Pr. DG, Directorate General of Systems and Data Management, addressed officers of the 76th Batch of IRS, who underwent hands-on training on ADVAIT (Advanced Analytics on Indirect Taxation). The programme provided practical exposure to advanced data analytics tools and their application in risk assessment, compliance management, and data-driven decision-making in indirect taxes.

He also interacted with officers of the 75th Batch of IRS, currently attending the Furbisher Course after gaining field experience. The interaction focused on operational issues faced in the Systems domain and constructive discussions on the scope for further enhancement, modernization, and user-centric improvements of tax IT systems.

The two-week Furbisher Course for the 75th batch of IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officers was inaugurated by the Principal Director General, NACIN, in the presence of Shri Peri Umasankar, Pr. ADG, Dr. Steephen L, and other senior officers.

The course provides a valuable platform for officers recently inducted into the field to reflect on their initial experiences, reinforce core principles of tax administration, ethics and vigilance, and enhance their professional competence through structured discussions and interactions.

Shri Ashwani Lohani, IRSME (Retd.), former CEO of Air India, interacted with the Officer Trainees of the 75th, 76th and 77th batches of IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes) at NACIN Palasamudram today.

Drawing from his rich experience in public sector leadership, he emphasised the centrality of integrity, ethical decision-making, and professional courage in public service. He highlighted the importance of leadership by example, institutional commitment, and maintaining personal values while navigating complex administrative challenges. His interaction offered valuable insights and inspiration to young officers at the start of their careers in public service.
