NACIN, Zonal Training Institute, Hyderabad was originally established as the Regional Training Institute in November 2002 and later upgraded to a Zonal Training Institute on 01.07.2017.
Earlier, the institute operated from rented premises on the 1st Floor of Krishna Block, Dr. Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resources Development Institute, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad–500033. As of December 30, 2024, NACIN, Zonal Campus, Hyderabad, is operating from its newly constructed permanent campus, located at Pillar No. 170, PVNR Expressway, Attapur, Hyderabad.
The new campus spans an aerial extent of 4.12 acres and is approximately 10 km from Hyderabad Railway Station and 22 km from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
The new Zonal Campus is designed with a built-up area of 12,101 sq. m. consisting of four blocks:
- Administrative Block (1699 Sq mt)
- Training / Auditorium Block (5659 Sq mt)
- Hostel Block (3224 Sq mt)
- Residential Block, etc. (1519 Sq mt)
The shift to the new campus marks a significant step in enhancing the institute’s training infrastructure and operational capacity.
The Zonal Campus is a Centre of Excellence for Human Resource Development, enhancing the knowledge, skills, and competencies of officers working in Telangana State. The NACIN, Zonal Campus, Hyderabad caters to the training needs of officers of Group B and C of a cadre strength of 1689 of Hyderabad Zone, consisting of Hyderabad GST Commissionerate; Secunderabad GST Commissionerate; Medchal GST Commissionerate; Ranga Reddy GST Commissionerate; Hyderabad Audit-I Commissionerate; Hyderabad Audit-II Commissionerate; Hyderabad Appeals Commissionerate-I; Hyderabad Appeals Commissionerate-II; Hyderabad Customs Commissionerate; and Directorates like DG Audit, DGoV, DGPM, DRI, DGGI. The Academy conducts various training programs throughout the year to help CBIC personnel enhance their skills and knowledge.
The Academy (i) conducts awareness programs for trade and industry and intermediaries like Customs Brokers, GST Practitioners etc., on various aspects of law and procedures (ii) train State GST officers on areas of GST matters particularly on Audit, Taxes on Services etc. (iii) undertake and conduct training on request from other government departments and agencies to improve their understanding of the GST Taxation system (iv) conducts awareness programs for trade and industry on areas of interest to them when there is a change in law and procedure either during budget or during financial year to improve compliance management and reduce transactional cost to the trade.
The Academy conducts diversified training schedules that can be categorized as:
Tenure-based training programs: These are structured learning sessions designed for both beginners and advanced participants. This module includes courses such as “Induction Training” on joining the department and “Mandatory Training” to those eligible for their next promotion in respect of Group ‘B’ and Group ‘C’ cadres with syllabus covering a range of topics including Customs, GST, E-way Bill System, Special Economic Zones, Audit, Adjudication, NDPS, Appeals, Administrative procedures, Conduct Rules etc.
In-Service Training programs: These are short-term refresher courses and workshops that focus on specialized skills with respect to functioning while dealing with Audit, Adjudication, Refund, etc., and are designed to keep the officers updated about the change in laws, practices, and digital tools.
Expert sessions: These are sessions delivered by senior officers, industry professionals, field experts, domain experts, and legal experts, experienced instructors combining their theoretical knowledge, experience, and case studies.
Extra-curricular activities and personality development: Activities such as YOGA sessions, financial management aimed at soon-to-retire officers, parades, physical training sessions, indoor games, teamwork activities, and soft skills are conducted at the academy.

As on 12.08.2025, NACIN, Zonal Campus, Hyderabad is having 121 faculty members of which 12 are Staff faculty (posted and working in NACIN, Zonal Campus, Hyderabad); 59 are In-house faculty (serving departmental officers); and 50 are guest faculty (12 are department retired officers from the department and 38 are domain expert faculty in their respective fields).
